Building Lego Airplanes - REVIEW of 3181 & 3182

Liam and I recently acquired two different Lego airplane sets.  One's blue, smaller, and less expensive (set 3181); and the other is red, huge, and about $100 (set 3182).  They are both fantastic.
One of the reasons of love playing Lego Star Wars with Liam is the excitement of grabbing a space ship and running around the living room blasting away until someone wins and the other (usually me) traumatically crashes onto the carpet beneath.

These airplanes allow for similar fun.  Load up passengers, fly around, land in exotic locations, and fire your laser cannons (it you add them) when needed.  :)
I give both of them a 9 out of 10.

Why not a 10 out of 10?  The blue set (3182) has a great airplane, and the car thing is cool... but the tower?  It's okay.  The airplane is great, though.  Here's what the inside of the blue plane looks like:
And the red set?  Again, the airplane is fantastic, but Lego made the "airport" part a tad too unstable.  One small drop and it's toast.  It's pretty cool, not amazing, but pretty cool.  I'm excited to try "adding" to it (we'll see if Liam will let me...).  Here are some shots of the airport:

Here are some shot of the red plane:

The coolest thing about the red airplane, however, is the door.  The side of the airplane actually opens up with a real door!  Very very cool:

I had great fun with these sets.  I hope you enjoy them too!
