Liam and I have this game we play. It's quite fantastic, actually. We build cars out of Lego bricks. Then we go by our front door (where there is hardwood flooring) and shoot them at each other. The object of the game is to be the one who's car breaks apart the least. Then we rebuild, and smash them together again. Lego bricks are so resilient we don't have to worry about the breaking (and honestly, we don't smash them that hard). These were our vehicles for the day:
And the backs...
At one point, Liam decided the arms were too much, so his car ended up a tad different. Here's the new version:
So fun.

Duplo and Standard Lego Compatibility
I love that Duplo bricks and standard Lego bricks are compatible. I don't have a ton of Duplo, but I find the extremely useful when I'm building something big and bulky.
I pulled them out just recently when Liam (my son) and I decided to build "Liam Town." Here are a couple of shots:
The main part of this is obviously the train tunnel. In the last picture you can see my son's creation of himself (completely Duplo).
A 2x3 standard Lego brick won't directly connect to a Duplo brick. The standard Lego bricks must be a 2 by ____ (and the blank number needs to be divisible by 2). For example, a 2x4 would work, and so would a 2x6 or 2x8. The nice thing is that once you've covered the Duplo with standard Lego bricks, you can build anything on top of those.
Pretty sweet. We had a lot of fun.
As a side note, you'll notice the doors/windows on our trains are often open. This is the work of little sister, Tigi. She is quite adamant that windows stay open. :)

Lego Ninjago Kai's Lava Mountain
I've always been fascinated with Lego mountains, but it's hard to come up with enough Lego bricks to make one the size I want to make one. This one's not huge, but it was reasonable; and it made for some good Ninjago minifigure play.
One day, recently, Liam was playing on the computer, and I wanted to lure him away into playing Legos. I brought out all the Lego bricks and just started building. This "lava mountain" is what I came up with. Here's a shot of the back:
Liam loves Kai (from Lego Ninjago), so I added him to it. It was a fun build. I later used it at church (I'm a children's chorister) as part of a game we were playing.

Amazing (and huge) Lego House
I was looking up Lego roofs on YouTube and came across this video. Wow. It's amazing. The detail inside this house is phenomenal. You've gotta check it out. So fun...

Lego Trains - Set 7939
I recently went to Lego Land with Liam... Wow. More on that soon...
While we were there we got set 7939, the yellow cargo train. It was our first Lego train set. I love it!
This is one of the greatest toys you could EVER get. There were very few technic pieces, so it went together without too much trouble. It was also nice to have several different train cars because there were automatic "let's take a break" moments built into the building experience.
It's been great fun watching it zoom around the room. The tracks to together super well, and they do surprisingly well on my thick carpet. There are TONS of possibilities here.
Liam and I decided to make a little movie after putting it together (with a couple of other things for "atmospherics"). Enjoy!
